Pools & Landscapes in Paradise Valley

Building a Pool in Paradise Valley

Paradise Valley is a low-density, semi-rural town where lots start at one acre, with Camelback Mountain on its southern edge and Mummy Mountain, the only mountain entirely inside town limits, near its center. That scale changes the brief. A pool here is one piece of a property-wide plan that may also hold courts, gardens, shade structures and a long arrival drive.

The Town of Paradise Valley issues pool and spa permits through its online Citizen Portal. The site plan has to show setbacks to property lines along with any easements, washes, drainageways and utility lines, and the Town asks for a dust control plan. On a large lot those drainage paths often decide where the pool can sit.

Lots inside the Town's Hillside Development Area also go before the Hillside Building Committee, and no building permit is issued until it approves. The committee reviews land disturbance, heights, lighting, materials, grading and drainage, so on Mummy Mountain or the Camelback slopes we design with those criteria in hand from the first sketch.

Design Notes

What Paradise Valley Estates Ask For

Space, slope and privacy guide most of our Paradise Valley work.

A Plan for the Whole Acre

Large lots invite a master plan instead of a pool dropped behind the house. We place the pool where it catches the best view and the best light, then connect terraces, lawns, shade and paths so the property reads as one composition.

Hillside Discipline

On hillside lots, less disturbance usually makes the better design. Terraced decks, raised spas and vanishing edges can follow the grade, and low, shielded lighting answers one of the committee's review points before it comes up.

Privacy by Planting

Paradise Valley lots are generous, yet a neighbor's window can still overlook the pool deck. Layered desert trees, hedges and walls in the right places add privacy and keep the mountain views open.

Where We Work

Paradise Valley Neighborhoods We Serve

Hillside estates, a golf community and a gated enclave.

Mummy Mountain

The only mountain entirely within Paradise Valley, with homes on its slopes. Hillside review, drainage and views toward Camelback shape every design up here.

Camelback Country Club Estates

A gated community around the Camelback Country Club golf course, with fairway and interior estate lots. Fairway lots reward pools that open toward the course.

Cheney Estates

A guard-gated community of 72 single-story homes, established in 1995, with mature landscaping. Single-story architecture pairs well with long, low pools and wide covered patios.

The Arise Method

From First Call to First Swim

On a Paradise Valley estate, the design and approval steps carry extra weight.

Discovery Call

Thirty minutes on the phone about your vision, timeline and budget.

Design & 3D Proposal

A complimentary on-site visit, then custom 3D renderings and a detailed proposal within a week.

Permits & Approvals

We prepare the engineering, file with the Town of Paradise Valley and handle any hillside review.

Build & Reveal

Eight to fourteen weeks of construction with weekly owner updates, then your first swim.

Family Focused is in Gilbert, southeast of Paradise Valley. Its separate zones for swimming, games, shade and fire show how we plan a yard around the way a family lives.

Good Questions

Questions From Paradise Valley Homeowners

Who issues pool permits in Paradise Valley?

The Town of Paradise Valley, through its online Citizen Portal. The application needs a site plan with setbacks, easements, washes and drainageways, plus a dust control plan. We prepare the full package and manage it through approval.

What is the Hillside Building Committee?

A Town committee that reviews new construction in the Hillside Development Area for land disturbance, heights, lighting, materials, grading and drainage. On those lots, no building permit is issued until the committee approves the plans.

Can I build an infinity edge pool on a Paradise Valley hillside?

Often, if the engineering, drainage and hillside review all line up. A vanishing edge needs a catch basin and a view worth framing, and Mummy Mountain and the Camelback slopes have plenty. Our infinity edge guide covers the details.

Do washes on my lot affect where the pool goes?

They can. The Town's site plan requirements call out washes and drainageways, and water has to keep moving through them. We map drainage first, then place the pool, deck and walls so they work with it.

Do gated communities add their own review?

Many do. Enclaves such as Cheney Estates and Camelback Country Club Estates have associations, so their guidelines apply on top of the Town permit. We read them early and submit in parallel.
