Custom Pools, Drawn to Your Lot

Geometric, freeform, infinity-edge and plunge pools designed around your architecture, your views and the way your family swims, then engineered for Arizona ground.

Custom Pool Design

A Pool That Looks Like It Was Always There

Every Arise pool starts as a blank sheet shaped around your home, your lot and the way you want to live outside. There is no catalog of stock shapes.

Our designers start at the back door. We study the view from the kitchen and living room, where the afternoon sun lands, how the lot falls toward the street and which corner stays private. Those answers set the position of the pool before anyone talks about shape, so the water reads as part of the architecture.

Then we size it to how you swim. Floaters and loungers want a generous sun shelf and wide steps. Lap swimmers want a long, clear run. Kids who jump need a deep end that is actually deep, and hosts need a shallow zone for standing with a drink. Most families want a blend, and the depth profile is where that blend gets decided.

If you are still weighing options, our guide to pool shapes for lots under a quarter acre covers the common layouts, and our 2026 pool budget breakdown shows which decisions move the number most.

Built for Arizona

Engineered for Desert Ground

Four conditions shape every pool we build in the Valley. Planning for them up front is what keeps a pool looking new for decades.

Caliche

Hard ground, planned for

Much of the Valley sits on caliche, a cemented calcium carbonate layer that can stall a standard excavator. We plan the dig for it and size steel and shell to the soil the crew actually finds.

Sun

Finishes that hold up

Summer UV is hard on plaster, grout and dark stone. We steer selections toward finishes that keep their look, and explain how finish color shifts water tone and temperature.

Monsoon

Storm water with a plan

A monsoon cell can drop heavy rain in minutes. Deck slopes, drains and grade are drawn so storm water moves away from the pool and the house.

Hard water

A cleaner waterline

Valley water carries heavy calcium, and evaporation leaves it at the tile line. Glass or porcelain tile and automated chemistry make it easier to manage. Read more on calcium scale.

Custom Pool FAQ

Questions Before You Break Ground

How long does it take to build a custom pool in Arizona?

Plan on three phases. Design moves quickly, with 3D renderings and a proposal within a week of the site visit. Permits and engineering usually take two to four weeks, and construction runs eight to fourteen weeks depending on size, features and how much caliche sits under the yard.

What pool shape is best for my yard?

The best shape fits both the lot and your habits. Geometric pools suit contemporary homes and rectangular yards. Freeform pools soften irregular lots and blend into planting. A view lot may justify an infinity edge, and small courtyards often call for a plunge pool. We sketch options side by side at the consultation.

Do I need a permit and HOA approval for a new pool?

Yes. Every new pool needs a city or town building permit, most East Valley neighborhoods add HOA architectural approval, and Arizona barrier rules apply. We prepare the drawings and engineering. Our post on pool permits and HOA approval explains the usual path.

Can you build on caliche or a sloped lot?

Yes. Caliche slows excavation and sometimes calls for heavier equipment, and slopes may need retaining walls or a raised pool edge. We look for both during the site visit and account for them in the proposal, so neither shows up as a surprise halfway through the dig.

Can I finance a custom pool?

Many homeowners do. Through our partner, Home Improvement Loans, qualified homeowners can choose from multiple lenders with terms up to 180 months on approved credit. See financing for details.
